1. According to the published the Second Step of Development Strategy Planning for Modern Customs System (revised in 2006), “the improving modern Customs system will be achieved before 2010.” However, at present the Customs never emphasize this information any more. Additionally, there is a certain distance between the self evaluation of the Customs and the real feeling of the public civil.
2. Recently, the General Administration of Customs released the conditional tariff rates and import quantity of 2009 and import quantity level of 2010 for 11 tariff code agriculture products from New Zealand.
3. Last Tuesday, the General Administration of Customs released an announcement about adjusting the Customs supervision method code which will be effective from Mar. 1st 2010.
4. Recently the Ministry of Finance, General Administration of Customs and the State Administration of Taxation jointly announced the Duty Exemption Measure on Import of Collection Products by State-owned Public Interest Organization which clarified that for those State-owned public organizations importing the donation, returning, claim and purchasing of collection for permanent collection, display and research purpose, the tariff, VAT and consumption tariff will be exempted.
5. In 2009, the newly added country of origin between domestic Customs and HK reached 563 items and the domestic Customs actively coordinated the implementation of zero tariff measure for HK.
